About

This site is the work of the pseudoanonymous blogger who has been known as “Dissent Doe” since 2006.  I am a licensed healthcare professional, a published researcher and author, and a long-time activist.  I’ve created this site as a companion to PogoWasRight.org and DataBreaches.net, but unlike those sites, this site will focus less on news updates and more on highlighting recurring concerns about data breach notification letters and incident response.

This site will undoubtedly upset — no, infuriate — entities that will be called out for deceiving the very people whom they should be protecting and assisting.  Let me point those people to the tagline of this site, which is a quotation from Stephanie Klein:  “Tell the truth or someone will tell it for you.”

This domain was gifted to Dissent Doe in 2023 by the former owner of BreachForums, Conor Fitzpatrick, aka “Pompompurin.” Knowing that he planned to plead guilty to charges filed against him, he offered the domain to me with the hope that it would be used for something constructive.  This domain was never used for any illegal purposes while he owned it, and I hope if he ever sees this site, he will feel it is being well-used.
